Italian Green Bean Casserole image

My Italian Aunt always made this when she'd come out to Nebraska to her In=laws (who were very German).. It was a request from them.. along with her Italian Spaghetti Sauces;;; She used home-canned green beans or fresh green beans in the summer..also tomatoes...but 60 yrs later, I have substitued the frozen green beans and...

Number Of Ingredients 10

5 slice bacon, diced
1/2 c green onion, diced
1/2 c sliced mushrooms
1 lg. can(s) diced tomatoes
1 10 oz pkg frozen green beans
1/4 tsp oregano, dried
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp lemon pepper (no salt added)
1/2 c grated romana cheese
1/2 c fresh grated parmisona cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Brown bacon. add and saute onions and mushrooms, drain off grease..
  • 2. Mix together in 2-qt. casserole-- green beans, tomatoes, oregano, salt and lemon pepper, bacon onion and mushrooms..
  • 3. Bake at 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.. Sprinkle grated cheese over before serving....
