Garlic Green Beans With A Kick image

A quick tasty side dish, reminded me of what our favorite Chinese restaurant serves...not a morsel left. If you don't like spice, just leave out the pepper flakes... Enjoy!

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 oz fresh green beans - cut into 2 inch pieces
5 clove garlic, minced
2 - 3 Tbsp olive oil
1 tsp red pepper flakes
salt & pepper to taste
1 tsp sesame seeds, or to your liking
handful sliced almonds
a squeeze of lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Place a pot of water on stove and bring to a boil. Add about 1 tsp salt to the water.
  • 2. Snap bean ends and cut either in half or 2 inch pieces.
  • 3. Once water is boiling, add the beans and cook no longer than 3 minutes, you want them to be crisp tender. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  • 4. Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and pepper flakes. Stir frequently and saute for roughly 2 minutes.
  • 5. Add the beans and toss to coat with garlic. Salt and pepper and saute just long enough to heat through. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and almond...Give them a squeeze of lemon, stir and serve immediately.
  • 6. Enjoy!
