I am a lover of Greens of any type, and I think these are one of the easiest things to grow in my garden. I always have an abundance. I can them and even go out pick them and have fresh greens with a pork chop dinner and dinner can't get any fresher than that. Just Picked and No preservitives. I cook any greens just like this....

Number Of Ingredients 5

bunch any amount of collard greens
1/2 lb bacon or (salt pork) uncooked cut into 1" pieces
bacon drippings added to taste
1 tsp salt
water to cover

Steps:

  • 1. Wash, Rince, Cut out Tough stems. Can Chop smaller or Leave whole.
  • 2. Place in Large Pot, add all the ingredients, Bring to Boil. . .Reduce heat, Cover
  • 3. Steam about 30 minutes. Serve with your favorite meal.
  • 4. To Serve; We use wine vinegar over top of ours, (optional)
