Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 11

Baking spray with flour
1 (15.25-oz.) pkg. yellow cake mix
¾ cup canola oil
4 large eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
½ cup packed light brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoons ground nutmeg
2 ½ cups powdered sugar (about 10 oz.)
3 - 4 tablespoons whole milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 10- to 15-cup Bundt pan with baking spray.
  • Beat cake mix, oil, eggs, sour cream, and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until well combined, about 2 minutes.
  • Stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
  • Spoon half of the batter into prepared Bundt pan. Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over cake batter about 1/4-inch from edges; top with remaining batter. Use a knife to swirl brown sugar layer into batter.
  • Bake in preheated oven until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes. Transfer pan to a wire rack, and cool 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan, and cool completely on a wire rack, about 1 hour.
  • Whisk together powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of the milk, and remaining 1/4 teaspoon vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth, adding up to 1 tablespoon milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, to reach desired consistency. Drizzle over cooled cake.

HONEY BUN CAKE-ANNETTE'S

Voted Members' Choice! YUM!!! This sure is one tasty cake...and just moist as can be.

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 14

CAKE
1 box yellow cake mix
4 large eggs
1 c sour cream
3/4 c vegetable oil or melted butter (i use melted butter)
FILLING
1 c brown sugar
3 tsp cinnamon
chopped pecans-optional
GLAZE
3 c powdered sugar
1/2 c milk
2 tsp vanilla
I HAVE FOUND IN THE LAST 2 CAKES I'VE MADE THAT NOT POKING HOLES IN IT WORKS JUST AS WELL. THE GLAZE TENDS TO GO A LOT FURTHER THAT WAY TOO BECAUSE THERE'S NO HOLES FOR IT TO FALL DOWN INTO. IT TRULY IS JUST PERSONAL CHOICE.

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325°. In a large bowl combine cake mix, eggs, oil (or melted butter) and sour cream. Stir until moistened. Now mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Batter will be thick.
  • 2. Grease AND flour a 9x13 cake pan. Pour enough batter to cover the bottom of the pan. ***You may also use cupcake pans, round pans or a budnt pan. Rose R. states the cooking time for her on the bundt cake pan was 45 min. Now remember, that is for her oven and oven times will vary. Use your own judgement for whatever cake pan you decide to use."""
  • 3. Mix filling ingredients then sprinkle over cake batter evenly.
  • 4. Pour the rest of the cake batter over the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture and bake at 325° for 45 minutes. Remember oven temps vary so if you feel it is done before the 45 minutes, test it first and if so, pull it out of the oven. I would say check it at 40 minutes if you are concerned your oven temp runs hot.
  • 5. While the cake is still hot, poke holes in it. Mix the glaze then pour evenly over the hot cake. Enjoy!
  • 6. ***You may add nuts of your choice to brown sugar mixture. Pecans are heavenly in this recipe.***

This cake tastes just like the name suggests - like a honey bun. It has been served to hundreds of people and everyone has said how much they liked it. It is a sweet cake and not for those that are watching their weight. Tastes wonderful if served with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.
