CREAMY GARLIC PORK CHOPS

Creamy Garlic Pork Chops image

These creamy garlic pork chops are smothered in a garlic cream sauce with whole garlic cloves! This recipe is quick and easy to make in about 30 minutes.

Provided by Natasha Bull

Categories     Main Course

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 pork chops (see notes)
Salt & pepper (to taste)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter (divided)
1 whole head garlic (cloves peeled)
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup chicken broth or stock
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
Fresh parsley (chopped (optional, to taste))

Steps:

  • Take the pork chops out of the fridge 15-30 minutes prior to starting the recipe if possible. Season the pork generously with salt & pepper on both sides.
  • In a deep skillet, add the olive oil and 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium-high heat. Let the pan heat up for a few minutes, and once it's hot, cook the pork chops for 3-5 minutes/side or until golden (3 minutes for thinner chops and 5 minutes for pork chops up to 1" thick). Once the pork chops are done searing, transfer them to a plate.
  • Add the remaining butter and the garlic cloves to the skillet. Turn the heat down to medium (or medium-low if using cast iron). Cook it, stirring fairly often, for about 3 minutes or until the garlic has somewhat browned on the outside.
  • Push the garlic to one side of the pan and sprinkle the flour in (avoiding the garlic). Let it cook for around 30 seconds, and give it a stir so it's incorporated with the butter (we're making a quick roux).
  • Add in the chicken broth and lemon juice. Stir and let it cook for about a minute or until the sauce is noticeably thickened.
  • Add in the cream and garlic powder. Stir or whisk it until the garlic powder has dissolved.
  • Add the pork back in and cook for another 3-5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened up a bit (let the sauce bubble a bit but not furiously boil) and the pork chops are fully cooked through (145F minimum). Keep in mind the pork's temperature will continue to rise once you stop cooking it, so if it's close, I'd take it off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Season the sauce with extra salt & pepper as needed and parsley if you wish.

Provided by Lana Stuart

Categories     Main Dishes

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 pork chops
salt
pepper
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ cup olive oil
24 ounces marinara sauce ((about 3 cups -- either homemade or purchased))
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
8 ounces spaghetti
Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Salt and pepper both sides of the pork chops. Sprinkle the flour over the chops to lightly coat them.
  • Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large deep skillet.
  • Add the chops and cook until nicely browned on both sides. Work in batches if necessary to prevent crowding the pan.
  • Place the browned chops back into the skillet and pour over the marinara sauce.
  • Reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook until the chops are done all the way through (about 20 minutes).
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package directions.
  • When the spaghetti is done, remove the chops to a plate and cover with foil.
  • Add the red pepper flakes, if using, to the marinara sauce.
  • Drain the spaghetti and add it to the sauce. Toss to coat the spaghetti with the sauce. Add a small amount of the pasta cooking water if the marinara sauce is too thick.
  • Serve chops alongside spaghetti.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

ITALIAN-STYLE PORK CHOPS

Italian-Style Pork Chops image

An Italian-style version of pork chops was one of the first recipes I tried making in the early years of my marriage. I've changed it over the years to be healthier by reducing added oil and fat, and by adding in some vegetables. It works well served over hot rice. -Traci Hoppes, Spring Valley, California

Came up with this recipe when I was stuck with boring ol' pork chops thawed! I'm sure you know the feeling, LOL! So it was a "raid the pantry" night! Glad I had written it down, because it's a regular now! Enjoy! Photo by Mommy Diva

Number Of Ingredients 14

3-4 - boneless pork loin chops, *see note at bottom
- salt & pepper to season
1 Tbl. - vegetable oil, more if needed
1 can - cream of mushroom soup
1 - (14 1/2 oz.) can delmonte originl stewed tomatoes, broken up with the juice
1 tsp. - minced garlic, or to taste
1 Tbl. - dried parsley
1 tsp. - dried basil
1/2 tsp. - italian seasoning
1/2 tsp. - oregano
1/4-1/2 - tsp. superior touch better than bouillon soup base, to taste for saltiness
1 Tbl. - butter, cut up
1 (4 oz.) - can sliced mushrooms, drained
- coarse ground blck pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Season chops on both sides with salt and pepper to taste. Fry in deep, hot skillet with oil til lightly browned on both sides. Remove to a platter. Wipe out excess oil and fat with a paper towel. Add rest of ingredients and stir to mix. Add chops and top each (covering completely)with most of the sauce, leaving some on the bottom underneath each chop. Place on tight-fitting lid, and bring to a simmer. Simmer for about 1 hour on LOW heat til very tender, stirring sauce ocaisionally so it doesn't burn or stick. (*I didn't need to turn these, but did always make sure they were totally covered with the sauce to keep them moist.)Serve over or with mashed potatoes, rice or noodles. *Note: I made 3 pork chops, and there was plenty of "gravy"/sauce to go with our mashed potatoes. Served them also with green beans, bread and butter and a nice salad! :)*If making 4 chops, there might not be enough gravy to top mashed potatoes or noodles, etc., so plan ahead and either make more sauce or top what you are serving it with, with a little butter instead of the extra sauce as there probably won't be any.
