Steps:
- Cook bacon in skillet on medium heat until crisp. Add garlic; cook and stir 1 min.
- Add beans, 1 cup at a time, mashing beans well after each addition. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook until bean mixture is consistency of a thick paste. If bean mixture is too dry, gradually stir in reserved bean broth until mixture is of desired consistency. Discard any remaining bean broth.
- Season bean mixture with salt to taste; sprinkle with cheese.
