Spicy Chicken Chow Mein image

This is a slow cooker recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 tablespoon(s) canola oil
1 1/2 pound(s) chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into 1" pieces
4 large carrots, thinly sliced
4 - green onions, sliced including green portions
3 - celery stalks, sliced
1 medium green pepper, coursely chopped
1 cup(s) chicken broth, reduced sodium
1 tablespoon(s) maple syrup
1/3 cup(s) soy sauce, low sodium
1/4 teaspoon(s) crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground ginger
1 clove(s) garlic, minced
8 ounce(s) can, bean sprouts
8 ounce(s) can, sliced water chestnuts
1/4 cup(s) cornstarch
1/2 cup(s) water

Steps:

  • Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until brown. Put in crock pot. Add remaining ingredients, except cornstarch and water; stir to combine. Cover; cook on low 6 to 8 hours.
  • Turn to high. In small bowl, stir cornstarch into cold water until dissolved. Stir into liquid in crock pot. Place cover slightly ajar on crock pot. Cook until thickened (15 to 30 minutes). Serve with cooked rice or Raman noodles with chow mein noodles, if desired.
