Muenster Mac And Cheese image

A different twist to mac and cheese.

Number Of Ingredients 6

16 ounce(s) dry pasta, such as rotini
5 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter,divided
1 cup(s) heavy cream
8 ounce(s) muenster cheese shredded
dash(es) salt and pepper
1/4 cup(s) cracker crumbs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400. In large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta according to the pkg. directions until 1 to 2 minutes until done.
  • Meanwhile, dice 4 T. of the butter and place in a large mixing bowl. Warm the cream in a small saucepan or in the microwave. Cover and keep warm.
  • Once pasta is cooked and drained, add to the mixing bowl with the butter and toss to coat well. Stir in the warm cream and the muenster until the cheese starts to melt. Mix in salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the mixture into a buttered 2 qt. casserole dish. In small bowl, melt the remaining 1 T. butter. Mix in the cracker crumbs. Toss with a fork to coat evenly with the butter. Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture evenly over the pasta in the baking dish. Bake until the sauce is bubbling and the topping turns golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve immediately.
