Great pot of chili when the weather begins to get cooler! Through the years, my children loved to have friends over and this was a go-to to get everyone fed...

Time 1h15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 lb ground beef
1 lb ground sausage
1 large onion, chopped
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
2 stalk(s) celerly, chopped
2 Tbsp minced garlic, chopped/heaping
1 large can diced tomatoes
1 can(s) rotel tomatoes
2 can(s) tomato sauce, small
1 box 2 alarm chili kit
1 pkg ranch dressing mix, dry

Steps:

  • 1. In a large pot, brown the hamburger meat and sausage, breaking it up into small pieces. Depending on the beef you use, you may skim/drain the fat. We leave the fat!
  • 2. Add into the meat mixture, the celery, bell pepper, garlic and onion and stir about 5 minutes.
  • 3. Pour in all the can ingredients, two cans (tomato sauce) of water and the chili mix, waiting till later to add the masa flour and the pepper. Still well and simmer an hour with the lid on, stirring occasionally.
  • 4. Sprinkle the dry ranch dressing mix over the top. If desired, add salt to taste, the masa flour and pepper packet. Turn off heat and stir well. Serve over cooked rice or fritos. Use toppings of your choice: sour cream, green onions, grated cheddar cheese, etc. Great served over hot dogs for chili dogs and top with sauerkraut/onions of course!
