Game Day Beer Pretzchos image

If you're a fan of German beer, then you will love this beer cheese sauce drizzled over soft baked pretzels. There's a light mustard flavor that goes perfectly with the soft pretzels. It's like being at a football stadium and combining your favorite snacks together. A fun twist on typical nachos. Just make sure to serve these immediately while they're nice and hot.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1-2 bag(s) soft pretzel nibs
2 1/2 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese
4 ounce(s) shredded Gouda cheese
1 tablespoon(s) all-purpose flour
1 cup(s) German beer
2 tablespoon(s) spicy brown mustard
- few drops each hot sauce & Worcestershire sauce
TOPPINGS
- shredded lettuce
- chopped tomatoes
- sliced jalapenos
- sour cream

Steps:

  • For cheese sauce, combine cheeses in bowl with flour.
  • Place beer in a small pot. Bring up to bubble on medium heat.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer, adding cheeses in handfuls.
  • Stir constantly until melted.
  • When melted add hot sauce, mustard, and Worcestershire. This is a beer cheese recipe I have for fondue, use whatever cheese you like. For a quicker version, there are many good jar nacho cheeses.
  • Warm pretzels as per directions on package. Oven method works the best for these.
  • Don't forget to top with the extra pretzel salt they give you with the pretzels. ;)
  • Place pretzels on a large plate. Pour cheese over, then top with rest of the topping ingredients and serve!
