Farmhouse Ham Chowder image

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 medium potatoes, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 medium red bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
1 (16-ounce) bag frozen broccoli, carrots and cauliflower (or other combination)
1 cup fully cooked chopped fully cooked lower-fat, lower-sodium ham
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1 (12-ounce) can fat-free evaporated milk
1/2 cup fat-free (skim) milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 ounces fat-free process cheese product loaf diced
1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • 1. Mix potatoes, bell pepper, frozen vegetables, ham, water and thyme in 3-quart saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are just tender. 2. Stir in remaining ingredients except ground red pepper and parsley. Simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted. Stir in ground red pepper. Sprinkle with parsley.
