Dad's Hamburger Gravy! image

When I was a kid growing up, we didn't have a lot of money. My dad used to make this, served often over sliced white bread or biscuits. It was a cheap and easy way to feed a family of five! Also it was delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 c whole milk
1-1 1/2 lb hamburger 80/20
1/2 c all purpose flour
2-3 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Steps:

  • 1. In a deep skillet, brown hamburger.
  • 2. Draing hamburger, reserving 1/2 cup grease. Set hamburger aside.
  • 3. Add grease back into the pan and heat over medium-high heat.
  • 4. Whisk in flour and stir until just starting to brown.
  • 5. Pour in milk, add salt & pepper. Stir over medium-high heat until bubbly and thickened.
  • 6. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, toast or biscuits!
