Brad's Slow Cooker Chili image

A game day favorite around our house. This chili has been refined over several years, including the addition of a couple of unexpected ingredients - Cocoa and Coffee, but believe me when I tell you, it is one of the best you will ever have! Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 23

1 pound(s) ground beef
1/2 pound(s) ground sweet italian sausage - removed from casing
1 - cubanella pepper - seeded and chopped
3 - jalapeno peppers - seeded and chopped
1 large onion, diced
4 stalk(s) celery, chopped
3 clove(s) garlic - minced
2 can(s) diced tomatoes (14.5 oz) - i like the fire roasted with garlic
1 can(s) crushed tomatoes (14.5 oz)
2 can(s) chile beans - drained
3 tablespoon(s) bacon bits
1 cup(s) beer
4 package(s) powdered beef bouillon - or cubes
2 tablespoon(s) chile powder
1 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon(s) dried oregano
1 tablespoon(s) minced dried onion
1 teaspoon(s) cumin
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
1 teaspoon(s) sugar
1 teaspoon(s) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon(s) ground coffee

Steps:

  • Brown first 7 ingredients in a skillet until meat is cooked. Drain and add to Slow Cooker
  • Add all remaining ingredients to slow cooker and cook 4 hrs on High or 6 hours on Low
  • Serve with Shredded Cheddar, Sour Cream and your choice of hot sauce!
