Blue Margarita image

Blue curaçao, made from the bitter peels of green oranges, originates from the Dutch West Indies. For greater drama, serve this as a single serving in an oversized margarita glass that holds 12 ounces.

1 lime wedge
coarse salt
ice cubes
4 oz sweet and sour mix
2 oz tequila
1/2 oz triple sec or cointreau
1/2 oz grand marnier
1 oz blue curacao
1/2 oz orange juice
1 oz lime juice
2 slice lime, for garnish

Steps:

  • 1. Chill 2 margarita glasses.
  • 2. To frost the glasses, rub lime wedge around the rims and dip rims in a saucer of salt.
  • 3. Place ice cubes in a shaker. Add sweet and sour mix, tequila, Triple Sec or Cointreau, Grand Marnier, blue curaçao, orange and lime juice.
  • 4. Shake and strain into glasses.
  • 5. Garnish with lime wheels.
