Classic from when I was a kid. Big plate of smothered, comfort food deliciousness! My kids love this recipe.

1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 (11.5 ounce) can condensed bean with bacon soup
½ cup water
½ cup diced fresh tomato
½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
½ cup corn chips (such as Fritos®, crushed
¼ cup sliced olives

Steps:

  • Mix ground beef, onions, and taco seasoning mix in a bowl. Shape into 4 hamburger patties.
  • Cook patties in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink in the center, about 4 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Drain fat and wipe the skillet with a paper towel.
  • Mix soup and water in a bowl. Pour over patties in the skillet; simmer until soup mixture is heated through, about 5 minutes. Mix in tomato, Cheddar cheese, corn chips, and olives. Scoop out the taco burgers and serve once cheese has melted.

STUFFED TACO BURGERS

My family loves Tacos and Burgers, so I combined the two for an Awesome Summer Grilled Dinner. You can use your favorite Taco toppings for your Burgers. Since all of our tastes are different here at my house I just put out separate bowls with different toppings and my own favorite sauce for these burgers.

3 pound(s) ground chuck
1 cup(s) crushed doritos (i like to use the spicy chili flavor)
2 package(s) taco seasoning mix
2 tablespoon(s) onion flakes, dehydrated
1 large egg, beaten
6 - tomato slices
6 - sliced sharp cheddar cheese
6 - jalapeno peppers, sliced lengthwise and seeded
6 - pepper jack cheese slices
6 - onion buns (large onion covered kaiser buns)
- salsa, black olives, lettuce leaves, shredded cheese, and chili.
3 tablespoon(s) each of miracle whip and thousand island dressing
1/4 teaspoon(s) horseradish
3 dash(es) tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl add ground chuck, minced onion and crushed Doritos. In a separate bowl add beaten egg and taco seasoning. mix well and pour over meat and mix well.
  • Shape 12 balls from the meat to make 12 4inch round and 1/4" thick patties. Assemble patties by placing 6 patties on wax papered cookie sheet.
  • Top patties with one slice of cheddar cheese, cut 3" circle to fit just inside of patty. top with tomato slice, pepper slices (2 on each patty), and top with pepper jack cheese slice cut to 3" circle. Top each with the other beef patties to cover toppings, pinch all around the edge to seal the burger shut.
  • Place on Grill medium high heat, and cook 10 minutes, 5 minutes on each side. or until it is done enough for your taste.
  • Place on buns and top with desired toppings. * I like to top mine with extra shredded cheese, black olives, Sauteed onions. Wrap in foil and place on the grill for an extra 5 minutes with the top on the grill. Then I open the foil and finish topping my burger then add my special sauce.
  • My special sauce; Add the miracle whip, thousand Island dressing and horseradish together with the Tabasco sauce. Mix well.

1 cup finely crushed corn chips
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
6 slices cheddar cheese
Sandwich buns, split
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Salsa, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the corn chips, taco seasoning, onion and egg. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six patties. , Grill, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear., Top each burger with a cheese slice; heat just until cheese begins to melt. Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and, if desired, salsa.

1/4 cup TACO BELL® Taco Sauce, divided
2 Tbsp. TACO BELL® Reduced Sodium Taco Seasoning Mix
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar & Monterey Jack Cheeses, divided
2 Tbsp. KRAFT Homestyle Mayo
4 onion sandwich rolls, split
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium heat.
  • Mix meat, 2 Tbsp. taco sauce and taco seasoning just until blended; shape into 8 (1/4-inch-thick) patties. Spoon 1 Tbsp. cheese onto center of each of 4 patties. Top with remaining patties; pinch edges together to seal.
  • Grill 5 to 6 min. on each side or until done (160°F). Top burgers with remaining cheese; grill 1 to 2 min. or until melted.

1 1/3 pounds ground sirloin or ground turkey breast
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tablespoon (a palmful) ground cumin
1 tablespoon, (a palmful) dark chili powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper sauce
1 teaspoon (1/3 palmful) coarse salt
1 tablespoon (1 turn around the pan) vegetable oil
4 (12-inch diameter) soft flour tortillas
1 cup mild taco sauce
1 heart of romaine lettuce, shredded
2 small plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped
2 cups shredded monterey jack
Cut fresh seasonal vegetable pieces and strips
Assorted organic tortillas like blue corn, red corn or black bean
Prepared mild salsa, for dipping chips and vegetables, recipe follows
1 tablespoon (1 turn around the pan) extra-virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon (1/3 palmful) ground cumin
Salt and pepper
1 (15-ounce) can chunky-style crushed tomatoes

Steps:

  • Combine ground meat with onion, garlic, spices, and salt and form 4 patties. Pan fry patties in 1 tablespoon oil over medium high heat for 7 minutes on each side.
  • To make a taco pocket, blister a flour tortilla on a hot griddle pan for 30 seconds on each side. Place tortilla on dinner plate and spread surface with 1 /4 cup mild taco sauce. Pile shredded lettuce, tomatoes and a handful of cheese in center of tortilla. Top veggies and cheese with cooked taco burger patty and wrap tortilla up and over patty on all four sides. Turn square pouch over and cut from corner to corner, making 2 taco pockets that will not crumble and drip like traditional tacos.
  • Serve taco pockets with cut fresh seasonal veggies, assorted tortilla chips and mild salsa for dipping.
  • Heat a small saucepan over moderate heat and add oil, onions, peppers, and garlic. Season vegetables with cumin, salt, and pepper and cook for 5 minutes, until vegetables are just tender.
  • Remove the pan from heat and add canned tomatoes. Stir salsa to combine and transfer to a small serving bowl. Serve salsa at room temperature or chilled with veggies and assorted corn tortillas for dipping.
