Brazil's favorite drink, the caipirinha, is made a little sweeter here with the addition of strawberry and kiwi instead of lime - 'Caipirinha de morango com kiwi' in Portuguese. A refreshingly addictive cocktail!

4 fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
½ kiwi, chopped
1 ½ tablespoons white sugar
ice cubes
1 ¾ fluid ounces cachaca

Steps:

  • Place strawberries, kiwi, and sugar into a glass; mash well with a cocktail muddler. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Pour in cachaca; stir.

1/2 cup chopped fresh strawberries
2 1/2 teaspoons superfine sugar
1/4 cup cachaça
1 cup ice cubes
1 whole strawberry

Steps:

  • In lowball glass, muddle chopped strawberries and sugar until juices are released from berries, leaving some pieces of fruit intact.
  • Add cachaça; stir to combine. Fill glass with ice; stir again. Garnish with whole strawberry. Serve immediately.

  • Fill the glass halfway with crushed ice; add the cachaca and stir the mixture vigorously.
  • Fill the rest of the glass with crushed ice; garnish with remaining lime wedge.
