Number Of Ingredients 9

1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
half of a small onion, finely chopped
half of a small green pepper, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Steps:

  • Brown onions and green peppers with ground beef over medium heat until meat is cooked through and vegetables are soft. Drain the grease away and return the meat to the pan.
  • Over medium-low heat, add garlic powder, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, and soy sauce. Mix well and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve on soft hamburger buns.

1 tablespoon canola oil
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 Tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 pound ground turkey breast
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 hamburger rolls, split

Steps:

  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil. Sauté the onions, peppers, and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the cumin and chili powder; when the vegetables are coated with the spices, stir in the turkey; cook, breaking apart the meat with a wooden spoon, 3 minutes.
  • Add the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt; cook until the sauce is slightly thickened and the turkey is cooked through, 4-5 minutes.
  • Toast the rolls, if desired, and top with the turkey mixture.
