Steps:
- Cut beef into about one inch cubes.
- Place a medium sized sauce pot on medium heat.
- Add bacon grease or cooking oil.
- Add beef.
- Add onions.
- Stir the meat and onions until the meat is lightly brown.
- Add beef broth and bring to a rolling boil.
- Cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 1 hour or until beef is tender.
- In a small bowl, mix Cornstarch with cold water, stir well.
- Slowly add the cornstarch to the beef and broth, stirring constantly.
- Simmer another 10 minutes or until gravy has thickened.

- Heat an electric skillet for 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C); add vegetable oil. Cook beef tips in the hot oil until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat; saute onion and garlic until softened, 5 to 10 minutes. Add onion mixture, beef stock, 1 cup cooking wine, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and browning sauce to beef tips.
- Cover electric skillet, reduce temperature to 200 degrees F (95 degrees C) to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C), and simmer, stirring occasionally, until beef is tender, about 1 hour. Add 2 cups water as needed to maintain moisture in the skillet.
- Pour remaining cooking wine into beef tips mixture. Stir cornstarch and 2 tablespoons water together in a bowl until smooth; stir into liquid mixture in the electric skillet and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes more.

- In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, arrange beef. Add remaining ingredients except buns; mix well.

- Spray the inside of a 6-quart oval slow cooker crock with cooking spray.
- Mix beef broth and liquid smoke in a small bowl; pour into prepared crock.
- Drizzle olive oil over the beef chuck roast. Rub barbeque seasoning over the roast and lie gently into the liquid in the slow cooker. Drizzle Worcestershire sauce over the roast.
- Cook on Low until the meat pulls apart easily, 7 to 8 hours. Remove roast to a cutting board and shred into strands with a pair of forks.
- Drain liquid from the slow cooker crock, reserving 1/2 cup and discarding remainder. Stir reserved liquid with barbeque sauce in a bowl.
