This is a very easy and delicious recipe That I devised. Why? ..Because I love potatoes, rutabagas, cheese, and potato chips. All of the above blend together for a great oven baked potato dish. Number Of Ingredients 8

6 large potatoes...peeled and diced
1 large rutabaga...peeled diced & 1/2 way cooked
1/2 - 3/4 cup(s) onion............. chopped
2-3 tablespoon(s) butter.......melted
2-3 dash(es) black pepper
1 cup(s) sour cream & onion potato chips....crushed measured & divided in half
3/4 cup(s) cheese....., shredded
2 dash(es) paprika,..... sweet mild

Steps:

  • wash and peel potatoes.
  • Then dice, and set in cold water.
  • wash peel and chop rutabaga. Set in water with potatoes.
  • Melt butter. Chop onions. Crush potato chips. Spray cooking dish with oil. Pre-heat oven to 350F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add drained potatoes, drained rutabaga, chopped onion, pepper and melted butter. MIX well.
  • Put all in baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 crushed potato chips. Put in oven, uncovered and bake for about 40-45 minutes, at 350 F. Until potatoes are soft, and the baking dish has golden edges around the inside of baking dish.
  • Sprinkle cheese and the other 1/2 of potato chips over the top. Return to oven till the cheese melts. Sprinkle with paprika. Serve and enjoy.

1 tablespoon grated onion

Steps:

1 stick salted butter, plus more for the pan
1 yellow onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
16 oz. sour cream
2 10.5-oz cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 30-oz bag frozen shredded hash brown potatoes, thawed
8 oz. shredded cheddar
1 c. breadcrumbs
1 tbsp. chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375˚. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of butter, then add the onion. Cook for 5 minutes, then add the garlic. Cook until the onion are slightly softened, about 2 minutes more. Transfer to a plate and let cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cheddar, hash brown potatoes and the onion mixture. Transfer to a greased three-quart casserole dish. Cover the casserole and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place the remaining 6 tablespoons of butter in a small bowl. Cover and microwave for 45 to 60 seconds until melted. Mix in the breadcrumbs and parsley.
  • Top the casserole with the breadcrumb mixture and return to the oven, uncovered, for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly all over.

4 large russet potatoes, scrubbed
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Set the potatoes directly on the rack in the center of the oven and bake until easily pierced with a fork, about 1 hour. Remove from the oven and turn the heat down to 400 degrees F. Cut a slit in the top of the potatoes and carefully scoop out the flesh into a bowl, leaving the shells intact. Mash the potato lightly with a fork. 1½ kg King Edward potato, Desiree, or similar, peeled
1 onion, finely chopped
knob of butter, plus extra for greasing
100ml white wine
300ml milk
400ml double cream
3 sage leaves, finely chopped
50g gruyère, grated

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Boil the potatoes for 3 mins to soften a little, then drain. When cool enough to handle, slice into 5mm pieces. Cook the onion in the butter in a pan until softened, about 5 mins, then pour over the wine, milk and cream and heat through. Place the potato slices into a large bowl, pour over the cream mixture, sage leaves and half the cheese. Carefully stir until the potato slices are coated.
  • Grease a large baking dish (about 20 x 30cm) with a little butter, then tip the potatoes in. Smooth over the top, scatter over the remaining cheese and season with black pepper. Cover with foil and cook for 30 mins, then uncover and cook 30-40 mins more until a fork slides in easily and the top is golden brown.
