Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • in a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • add vanilla.
  • combine coffee granules and flour.
  • stir into creamed mixture.
  • mix well.
  • cover and refrigerate until easy to handle.
  • roll into 3/4 inch balls.
  • place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until set.
  • remove to wire racks.
  • meanwhile, for glaze, melt butter and chocolate together.
  • add melted mixture to the sugar along with the milk.
  • beat until smooth.
  • frost the cookies while still warm.

I got this recipe years ago from a friend that is a fantastic cook.

24 maraschino cherries, with juice reserved
1/2 c butter, softened not melted
3/4 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
2 Tbsp half and half
1 tsp vanilla
powdered sugar
CHERRY GLAZE
2 Tbsp butter
1 c powdered sugar
1/4 c reserved maraschino cherry juice

Steps:

  • 1. Drain cherries, reserving 1/4 cup juice for glaze; set aside.
  • 2. Beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  • 3. Stir in flour and next 3 ingredients.
  • 4. Shape into 24 balls. Press each ball around a cherry. Covering completely.
  • 5. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 18-20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.
  • 6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with glaze. Combine all ingredients together to make Cherry Glaze.

1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
24 maraschino cherries
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
Additional confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk and vanilla. Combine flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. , Divide dough into 24 portions; shape each portion around a cherry, forming a ball. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 18-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool., For glaze, combine sugar, butter and cherry juice until smooth. Drizzle over cookies. Dust with confectioners' sugar.

3/4 ounce white chocolate liqueur (Godet)

Steps:

  • Pour 3/4 oz of Creme de Noyaux in a cordial or shot glass.
  • Layer White chocolate liqueur on top by placing a spoon very close to the Creme de Noyaux in the glass. Gently pour the White chocolate liqueur on the back of the spoon into the glass to create a layer.

These cookies have become a Christmas tradition in our family. They are easy to make ahead and freeze--just let them thaw THEN roll them in the powdered sugar. The cookies look like a typical tea cookie but there is always a surprise when you bite into it and discover the yummy cherry center. You will want to make a double batch.

7 oz sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp cherry brandy
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
1 c sifted powdered sugar
1 c moist coconut flakes
12 oz maraschino cherries
1/2 c dessicated coconut
1/2 c dessicated coconut for rolling
16 oz semi sweet or dark chocolate to be melted

Steps:

  • 1. Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper.
  • 2. Combine condensed milk, cherry brandy, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl.
  • 3. Add powdered sugar and stir with a wooden spoon until fully incorporated.
  • 4. Add coconut flake, dessicated coconut & chopped maraschino cherries and stir until combined.
  • 5. Chill mixture in refrigerator until easy to mold, about 1 hour. Take 1 rounded teaspoon of mixture at a time and roll into balls, then roll in desiccated coconut.
  • 6. Line a cookie tray with parchment paper. Melt the chocolate and dip the balls into the chocolate, covering completely, and place them on the prepared tray until set. Store in airtight container in refrigerator or a cool place.
