1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 ½ cups quick cooking oats
1 egg
1 cup packed brown sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup raisins

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Sift the flour together with the soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in the oats. Combine the other ingredients and add them to the flour mixture, stirring thoroughly.
  • Drop by tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375℉ (190℃). Beat margarine and sugar together until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; add to margarine and sugar, mixing well. Stir in oatmeal. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 9 minutes for a chewy cookie, 10 to 11 minutes for a crisp cookie. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire rack for cooling. Store in tightly covered container.

This is a 3 generation recipe...One of the favorite Holiday and fall recipes....When my children were little I would get them into kitchen to help make them...though mostly they wanted to eat the dough...But we got the job done...they had fun...Making and eating them

1/2 teaspoon(s) ginger
1/2 cup(s) milk
2 large eggs

1 teaspoon(s) nutmeg
3/4 cup(s) shortening

- nuts and raisins

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350* Put raisins in a bowl with water so they will plump up...
  • In mixing bowl Cream together Shortening and sugar, add in eggs and cream...
  • Add in all dry ingredients, except nuts and raisins and mix well...Add milk a little at a time till mixed well.
  • Drain raisins, stir in raisins and nuts...Place spoon fulls on to cookie sheet..Bake at 350* for 10 to 12 minutes or till golden..
  • Remove from cookie sheet and cool on rack or foil...Place in air tight container....

These are the oatmeal cookies I grew up with. I know there are tons of recipes for oatmeal cookies on here already, but I didn't find any exactly like this one, or even quite close enough to call the same. The yield is an estimate, because I don't remember how many this actually makes. Enjoy!

1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk (or sour milk)
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups oats
1 cup raisins

Steps:

  • Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs til light and fluffy. Stir in buttermilk.
  • Stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Stir in oats and raisins.
  • Drop from tablespoon 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 400* about 8 minutes. Cool slightly; remove from pan.
