When I want to make this as an appetizer on Christmas or New Year's, I double the recipe, using one 16-ounce can of cranberry sauce. -Marian Platt, Sequim, Washington

3/4 cup jellied cranberry sauce
1 to 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon honey
1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1-1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
Miniature hot dogs or smoked sausage links, warmed
Sliced apples or pears

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the first seven ingredients; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve warm with sausage and/or fruit.

1 (8 ounce) container cream cheese with pineapple, softened
1 1/2 cups swiss cheese, shredded (about 6 ounces)
1/2 cup dried sweetened cranberries
1 tablespoon orange zest, grated
2 tablespoons apple juice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, mix all ingredients until well blended.
  • Spread in 9" pie plate, & bake until thoroughly heated, about 15 minutes.
  • Serve warm or room temperature.

6 slices bacon (, chopped)
1/2 yellow onion (, chopped)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
6 ounces cream cheese (, softened)
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp coarse ground black pepper
3 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1/2 cup sliced almonds (, divided)
1/2 cup dried cranberries (, chopped)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Add bacon to a skillet on medium heat and cook until chewy and crispy but pink and cooked through.
  • Drain all but 1 tablespoon of bacon grease and add in onions, cooking on medium heat for 5-6 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  • In a large bowl add the mayonnaise, cream cheese, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  • Whisk well until smooth.
  • Add in the cheese, cooked onions, 3/4 of the bacon, 1/4 cup almonds, and cranberries and stir well.
  • Pour into a baking dish and spread evenly, top with remaining almonds.
  • Bake, uncovered for 30 minutes.
  • Top with remaining bacon and cook 1 minute.

This recipe is from the cookbook titled Pass It On compiled by the ladies at the Presbyterian Church here where I live. My aunt gave a copy to my mom, and I've found so many great recipes in it.

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup swiss cheese, grated
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped
8 slices bacon, cooked
1/2 cup Ritz cracker, crushed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, swiss cheese and green onion in a bowl.
  • Crumble 6 slices of the bacon and add to the bowl.
  • Combine all ingredients well.
  • Transfer to a baking dish.
  • Crumble the remaining 2 slices of bacon.
  • Combine the crumbled bacon and crushed crackers.
  • Sprinkle on top of the cream cheese mixture.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve the dip on Ritz or any other type of butter crackers.

3/4 lb shredded swiss cheese
2 c dried cranberries
2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
4 1/4 Tbsp apple juice

  • 1. Blend all the ingredients well together and put into an 8 or 9 inch round glass serving dish. Bake 15 minutes in a preheated 375? oven until hot and bubbly. Serve with gingersnaps.

1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
1 cup white sugar
1 cup apricot jam
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine cranberries with sugar in a 2 quart baking dish with a lid, stirring well to coat all the berries. Bake in the preheated oven, covered, for about 30 minutes, until the cranberries pop and release their liquid.
  • Remove from oven and stir in the apricot jam and pecans. Refrigerate overnight to blend the flavors. To serve, allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature, and pour dip over the block of cream cheese on a serving dish. Serve with buttery round crackers or small pretzels.
