HAM AND SWISS SLIDERS ON HAWAIIAN ROLLS - SOUTHERN PLATE

Ham and Swiss Sliders on Hawaiian Rolls - Southern Plate image

Take ham and cheese sliders to the next level with ham and Swiss Hawaiian roll sliders, with a flavorful buttery mustard sauce on top.

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half (12-count, see directions for more details)
1/2-3/4 pound cooked deli ham, thinly sliced
3/4 pound Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tsp dried minced onion
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp pepper, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Line a 9×9-inch or 9×13-inch pan with aluminum foil, spray with cooking spray, and set it aside.
  • Don't separate or pull the rolls apart. Instead, using a large knife, slice the rolls in half so you have a top layer and bottoms layer to work on. Keep the rolls connected.
  • Put the bottom layer in the pan and put the first layer of cheese on the rolls. Spread the ham over the rolls, layer in the second layer of cheese, add the top layer of rolls, and set them aside.
  • Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or in a pot on top of the stove on very low heat. Add the mustard, onion, poppy seeds, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and stir/whisk that up to combine.
  • Pour the butter mix over the rolls and take your time. Spread the butter mixture over the tops. A spatula works well. Some of the mixture will sit at the base of the rolls. That's no problem.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and let the rolls sit at room temperature for a bit, usually 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Next, bake, covered, for about 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Take the foil off then cook for another 3 to 5 minutes, or until your heart is content. Baking time will vary based on your own oven so keep an eye on them so they don't burn and bake until they look good to you.
  • Slice into individual sliders and serve. They are good warm or cold.

HAWAIIAN BBQ CHICKEN SLIDERS

Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Sliders image

This is a crowd pleaser and I adjust the recipe according to how many people are coming. At one time we had 6 boys in the house that were like a hoard of locusts (and I have the grocery bills to prove it) This makes for a filling, simple meal, some assembly required. Generally served with chips, macaroni or potato salad, several cheese selections and other nibbles. Hope you enjoy!

Provided by Annalisa Keene @adksapphire

Categories     Chicken

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 - 8 chicken breasts or thighs (boneless, skinless)
1 bottle(s) sweet baby ray's bbq sauce (large)
1 - 2 can(s) crushed pineapple (drained)
2 package(s) king's hawaiian rolls or similar

Steps:

  • In your crock pot, add uncooked chicken (I use 6-8 breasts, but you could probably do 10 with the larger bottle of sauce) If using thighs then at least 8 (they tend to be smaller)
  • add 1 can of crushed pineapple (drained), and large bottle of BBQ sauce (I use Sweet Baby Ray's but if you have a favorite I am sure that would work as well.
  • Turn crockpot on low and cook for about 3 hours, til chicken is cooked through. Pull meat from crock pot and shred with 2 forks. Return shredded meat to sauce in cooker and continue to cook for a total of 6 hours.
  • I usually have the rolls, several cheese choices (pepper jack, cheddar, swiss, and American are popular at our house) and let everyone serve their own.

Unfortunately, I realized at the last minute that I was out of ginger and I did substitute 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon for the teaspoon of ginger. It probably made a slight difference and I will definitely make it again with the ginger. However, it was still so, so good. I like that this is simple, delicious and a little bit different. I also doubled the ingredients so that it made more sauce.

HAWAIIAN PANINI SLIDERS, OH YEAHHHHHH

Hawaiian Panini sliders, oh yeahhhhhh image

These bite size sandwiches are just too good to be true. The homemade aioli puts them over the top! I'll warn you ahead of time they are a little messy. So have plenty of napkins around. Use any lunch meat and cheese that suits your taste.

Number Of Ingredients 12

hawaiian sweet rolls original { sliced like for sandwiches }
1 cup sauerkraut { rinsed and drained very well } freeze the rest for another use
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
deli pastrami { sliced thin } about ¼ pound
deli ham { sliced thin } about ¼ pound
deli swiss cheese { i have it sliced a wee bit thicker than the lunchmeat } about 4 or 5 slices
INGREDIENTS FOR THE AIOLI:
6 cloves dry roasted garlic
1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
½ cup mayo { not miracle whip }
1 teaspoon whole grain mustard
3 teaspoons fresh squeezed lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. TO MAKE THE AIOLI:
  • 2. Make this the day before or at least several hours before.
  • 3. Smash the garlic into a paste with the salt.
  • 4. In a bowl, add the garlic paste and lemon juice and mix completely. I use Meyers lemons but use what you have but please do not use the bottled stuff.
  • 5. Add the mayo and mustard and mix very well. Refrigerate till you are ready to make the panini's.
  • 6. In a colander rinse and drain very well the sauerkraut. Put the butter in a sauté pan and sauté the sauerkraut and cook on low for about 5 minutes. Set aside and let the mixture cool.
  • 7. Get your panini pan hot, I set it to 325.
  • 8. Lay out all the of the rolls and put a small amount of the aioli on each of the bottoms and tops.
  • 9. Cut the deli meats and cheese to fit the buns, and then add the ham, kraut, cheese and pastrami. . I use three slices of ham and two slices of cheese and I piled on the pastrami for each sandwich.
  • 10. Place them on the panini pan, I grilled them for about 5 or 6 minutes.
  • 11. This will depend on your pan. If you don't have a panini pan just use a frying pan and cook on each side. Serve with chips and baby dill pickles.....

Hawaiian Sliders with Pineapple and Sweet Onion Potato Chips image

When I want a burger but also want the flavors of the Hawaiian islands, these sliders are my go-to recipe. Teriyaki and pineapple instantly remind me of hanging out with my island friends, cooking and eating. I hope these also transport you there.

Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 pound ground beef (use your favorite burger blend)
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Neutral oil, for greasing
4 canned or fresh pineapple rings
1 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
4 slices American cheese
4 Hawaiian sweet rolls, split
4 very thin slices red onion, plus more if desired
1 Roma tomato, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
Ketchup, mayo or mustard (optional)
1 cup Hawaiian sweet onion potato chips

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill or large grill pan to high for about 5 minutes.
  • Form the beef into four round patties, about 1/4 pound each. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.
  • Lightly oil the grates or grill pan with clean paper towels. Grill the patties and pineapple rings, brushing them with some of the teriyaki sauce. Flip the pineapple rings when grill marks form, after about 1 minute and brush with more teriyaki sauce. Grill the other side of the pineapple until grill marks form, about 1 more minute, then remove from the heat and set aside.
  • Grill the patties until you get nice deep char marks, about 3 minutes. Flip and brush with more teriyaki sauce, then top each patty with a cheese slice. When you hit your desired doneness, remove the patties from the grill and let rest. Toast the rolls for 10 seconds on each side then remove to a plate.
  • To assemble each slider, place a bottom bun on a plate. Top with a cheese patty then a pineapple ring. Top with onion, tomato and lettuce. If you are adding ketchup, mayo or mustard, this is the time. Top with 1/4 cup of the potato chips, then gently press the top bun on it.
