TRADITIONAL FRENCH BROCCOLI GRATIN RECIPE
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Preheat oven to 375 F and butter a large gratin dish.
- Sauté onion in olive oil for five minutes in a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Sprinkle flour over onions and continue sautéing mixture for 30 seconds. Add salt, pepper, sage, and milk to pan and stir constantly for 3 to 5 minutes until sauce thickens.
- Stir broccoli and cheese into sauce, bring mixture to just a simmer, and turn out into buttered gratin dish.
- Stir together melted butter, bread crumbs, and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, and sprinkle over gratin. Bake broccoli gratin for 15 to 20 minutes, until hot and bubbly, and bread crumbs have turned golden brown.

- Wash and drain broccoli. Remove leaves from stalk. Cut stems off stalks about 1 inch from the stalks Put all ingredients including broccoli into pressure cooker. Cook under high pressure for 3 minutes then use rapid pressure release. After opening lid, remove bay leaves and lemon slices. Serve broccoli on plates and pour the sauce over broccoli for a delicious French style vegetable dish.

- 1. In greased 13×9 pan, layer the broccoli and chicken, then set aside
- 2. In saucepan over medium heat, combine the melted butter, cornstarch dissolved in water, chicken broth, seasonings, and milk. Stir well, and continue stirring until sauce has thickened.
- 3. Turn heat down to low, and add 1- 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese. Stir until melted. Pour over the chicken and broccoli. Top with 1- 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese.
- 4. Melt the butter, and add the poppy seeds, and stir well. Crush Ritz crackers in large zip-lock bag with a rolling pin. Don't crush too small. Add crumbs to the melted butter.
- 5. Sprinkle crumbs over the top of the grated cheese.
- 6. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, or until hot & bubbly.
