This creamy lemon basil pasta is a fresh and tangy explosion of flavor. Perfect for a summer lunch or to bring summer into the dark winter months. This easy pasta dish has a creamy and luscious sauce, that tastes comforting yet still tasting fresh and summery. AND it takes under 10 minutes to make, with just 4 basic ingredients (plus salt and pepper). Serve it on its own or add shrimp or grilled chicken. Serve it as a side to your BBQ steak or add some white beans or some fresh summer tomato!

12 oz pasta
2 lemons
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup fresh basil leaves (a large handfull)
Salt and pepper
Basil (- for garnish)
Parmesan (- for garnish)

Steps:

  • Bring a large pan of water to the boil and then add a generous amount of salt.
  • Add the pasta and cook until al dente.
  • Reserve a cup of the pasta cooking water and then drain the pasta.
  • Zest the lemons into a small bowl and then squeeze the juice into a measuring cup.
  • When your pasta is about 3 minutes from being cooked pour the heavy cream into a pan. Add the lemon zest and season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the cream over medium heat for about 2 minutes until it comes to a simmer.
  • Pour the cream mixture over the drained pasta, stir well then add the lemon juice. Stir to ensure the pasta is evenly coated and then cook over medium-low heat for a minute until everything is glossy and coated in the sauce.
  • Add a splash of the pasta cooking water to thin the sauce as needed.
  • Stir the basil through the pasta and serve.
  • Parmesan is optional but good!

Lemon Basil Chicken Pasta tastes like it is straight out of a restaurant kitchen, but is so easy to make, and only takes as little as 20 minutes to make! Enjoy this filling pasta dinner with a slice of garlic bread and roasted veggies!

1.5 lbs chicken breast cutlets ((5-6 thin pieces))
2 tbsp olive oil
2 large eggs
1 cup grated parmesan
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup chicken broth ((or white wine))
6 tbsp butter
4 garlic cloves
1/4 cup lemon juice ((about 1 lemon))
1/2 cup fresh chopped basil (about 15 leaves)
8 oz pasta

Steps:

  • Prepare pasta per package directions.
  • Begin by scrambling the eggs in one bowl and combining the Salt, black pepper, Italian Seasoning, flour, and grated parmesan in another bowl.   • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Once hot, add the chicken breast cutlets and sear for 2 minutes on each side. The chicken should release when it is ready to turn.
  • Then place the lid on the skillet, reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for 3-6 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through to a internal temp of 165˚F. (Time will vary based on thickness of the chicken.) Once cooked, remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the butter and garlic and increase the heat to medium. Stir until the butter is melted.
  • Add the chicken stock (or wine) and lemon juice and bring to a simmer. Simmer until it has reduced by about 1/3, then stir in the basil and pasta.
  • Nestle the chicken into the pasta. Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot. Enjoy!

This creamy chicken pasta has a light buttery, lemon cream sauce and fresh basil. It's a quick and easy 30 minute weeknight meal and you probably have a lot of the ingredients already in your fridge.

1 lb chicken thighs
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 c chicken broth
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1/3 c heavy cream
10 oz penne (or any pasta noodle)
5 large basil leaves, chopped
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried marjoram
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Steps:

  • Boil the pasta and set aside
  • Heat your pan on medium heat, with the olive oil
  • Mix together the chicken seasoning ingredients and rub over the chicken thighs
  • Cook the chicken thighs in the pan, turning half way through, cook until no longer pink in the middle then set aside
  • Turn heat down to low
  • Melt the butter in the pan then add the minced garlic and lemon zest, stirring for 2 minutes until fragrant
  • Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice and heavy cream
  • Turn the heat up to get the liquid to a low boil for 2 minutes, careful it's not too hot and burns the sauce
  • Turn the heat down to low
  • Chop up the chicken and add it to the pan along with the cooked pasta
  • Chop the basil and add it to the pan, mix everything together
  • The sauce will be very thin at this point, as it cools it should thicken slightly (keep in mind the sauce for this recipe is intended to be creamy and thin, not super thick)
  • Serve

1 Pound Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts (- sliced into 3/4-1'' wide strips)
2 TBS Unsalted Butter (- DIVIDED)
1 large Shallot (- finely diced)
2 Cloves Garlic (- minced)
1 TBS All Purpose Flour
2 Cups Chicken Broth
1 ½ Cups Half-and-Half
8 ounces Linguine (- broken in half)
1 ¼ Cup Peas (- (thawed if frozen) (SEE NOTES))
1 bunch fresh Basil (- 1 large sprig left whole, the rest chiffonade (thinly sliced))
1 Lemon (- zest and juice)
½ Cup Parmesan Cheese (- grated, plus more for serving)

Steps:

  • Cook Chicken: Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a Dutch oven, or large straight sided skillet, over medium high heat. Add the chicken and season generously with salt and pepper. Cook until golden brown on all sides, but not cooked through, about 4-6 minutes total. Remove chicken to a plate.
  • Saute Aromatics, then add flour: Add in the remaining tablespoon of butter. Once melted, add in the shallot and season with salt and pepper. Cook until softened, about 2 minutes. Add in the garlic* and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add in the flour and cook, stirring, for another minute.
  • Add liquids, then chicken + pasta: Add in the chicken broth and half-and-half. Whisk to combine. Add back in the chicken along with the pasta and a large sprig of basil. Bring to a slow boil, stirring occasionally, then immediately reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente. Remove the sprig of basil and discard.
  • Add in the peas, lemon juice and zest. Cook for an additional minute. Stir in the parmesan and chopped basil. Taste and adjust for seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Garnish & Serve: Garnish with crushed red pepper flakes, more parmesan cheese, and slices of lemon if using. Serve immediately and enjoy!

1 tablespoon olive oil
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 can (14 oz) Progresso™ artichoke hearts, drained, quartered
1 cup Yoplait® plain yogurt (from 32-oz container)
1 cup sour cream
2 to 3 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 cup freshly chopped fresh Italian (flat-leaf) parsley

Steps:

  • Cook pasta as directed on package. Drain; set aside.

½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
1 (16 ounce) package farfalle (bow-tie) pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil
½ cup dry white wine
3 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
1 lemon, zested and juiced, divided
½ (8 ounce) package cream cheese
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup sour cream
2 cups chicken stock, or more as needed
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper, or to taste

¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a casserole dish or 9x13-inch pan.
  • Slice or cube chicken and season lightly with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook farfalle at a boil, stirring occasionally, for 6 minutes. Drain, cover, and set aside.

1-1/2 pounds chicken tenderloins
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup white wine or chicken broth
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
Hot cooked angel hair pasta

Steps:

  • Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat butter and oil over medium heat. Brown chicken on both sides. Remove from pan., Add wine and lemon juice, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan. Bring to a boil; cook 2-3 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half., Stir in cream, basil and thyme.
