1 48-ounce bottle (or 6 cups) Ocean Spray® Regular or Light Cranberry Juice Cocktail
2 cups apple juice
4 3-inch cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 cup of sugar (optional)
Orange slices, garnish
Whole cloves, garnish

Steps:

  • Ocean Spray directions: Combine all ingredients, except garnishes in a large saucepan. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Strain punch to remove spices. Pour into a heat-proof punch bowl or individual serving mugs. Garnish with orange slices studded with cloves, if desired. [I actually just put it all in the crockpot on High and let it warm up for an hour or so.]

6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
1 bottle (48 oz) cranberry juice cocktail (6 cups)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine
Orange slices, if desired
Cinnamon sticks, if desired

Steps:

  • Tie whole spices in 2 layers of cheesecloth or place in tea ball.
  • In large saucepan or Dutch oven, mix cranberry juice cocktail, brown sugar and nutmeg; add spices. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat. Cover; simmer 10 minutes.
  • Stir in wine; cook until thoroughly heated. Remove spices. Serve wassail warm; garnish each glass with orange slice and cinnamon stick.

I got this recipe from my mother in law. I believe she got it years ago while she and her husband were living in Germany. I think its pretty good and I'm sure you could add alcohol to your taste if you wanted.

1 family-size tea bags or 3 regular tea bags
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 (1 lb) can jellied cranberry sauce
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup ReaLemon juice
5 1/2 cups water

Steps:

  • In a paper coffee filter place the nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Tie top together with string from teabag.
  • Steep teabag(s) and spices in 2 1/2 cups water in a sauce pan for about five minutes.
  • In a large bowl combine cranberry sauce, 1 1/2 cups boiling water and 3/4 cup sugar. You can do it by hand but an electric mixer saves time and energy. Mix until there are no lumps.
  • Add orange juice, realemon juice and another 1 1/2 cups boiling water.
  • Remove teabag and spices from sauce pan. Add the tea and cranberry mixtures together. You can use a Dutch oven or a crock pot.
  • You can add more water to dilute the mixture to taste. It will keep for about 10 days, though its never lasted that long.

½ gallon apple cider
½ gallon cranberry juice
1 cup lemon juice
1 ¼ cups pineapple juice
1 large orange, thinly sliced
24 whole cloves
¼ cup clover honey
½ cup white sugar
4 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground allspice
½ teaspoon ground ginger
12 fresh mint leaves
12 orange slices for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan or pot, combine cider, cranberry juice, lemon juice, pineapple juice, orange slices, cloves, honey, sugar, and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer; add nutmeg, ginger, and allspice. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve warm and garnish each cup with mint and an orange slice.

sliced 20 whole cloves 2 1/2 cups brandy or vodka
opt orange slices and whole cloves to garnish

Steps:

  • Combine cranberry juice, apple juice, sugar, cinnamon sticks and allspice in a large pot. Heat to boiling over med heat and reduce and simmer 10 minutes. Strain punch to remove spices. Serve warm in heat proof bowl or chill and serve over ice. May stir in Brandy or Vodka if chilled. Garnish with orange slices studded with cloves.
