1 pastry crust for a deep-dish pie 9-inch
1/2 c sugar
3 Tbsp flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 pinch salt
6 c apples, thinly sliced peeled
1/2 c pecans, chopped
1/4 c caramel topping
CRUMB TOPPING:
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c flour
1/2 c quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 c butter

Steps:

  • 1. Crumb Topping: Stir together brown sugar,flour, rolled oats. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until topping is like course crumbs. Set aside.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 375.
  • 3. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated. Transfer apple mixture to the pie shell.
  • 4. Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture.
  • 5. Place pie on a cookie sheet so the drippings don't drop into your oven.
  • 6. Cover edges of pie with aluminum foil. Bake for 25 minutes. Then remove foil and put back in for another 25 to 30 minutes without foil. Remove from oven. Sprinkle pie with chopped pecans then drizzle with caramel on top. Cool on a wire rack and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

it is in the oven as i type this...ok i admit i cheated.... i used rolled pie crust from the dairy but the rest is mine...... with splenda and no sugar stuff...... wish i knew how to figure jus how many carbs this pie had...if anyone does please share and ty

1 pkg double crust pie dough
4-6 large apples,pealed,cored,and sliced thin
1 large bowl of cold water that 2t lemon juice,1/2 t salt,1 t double streangth vanilla,1t cinnamon
1 c flour
1 tsp cinnomon
1/8 c splenda
1 pinch salt
1 bottle no sugar added carmel flavored ice crean topping
2/3 c pecans, in pieces

Steps:

  • 1. start with the apples as you peal,core,slice them right into bowl of spiced water
  • 2. next mix flour,splenda,salt,cinnomon in lg zip bag... drain apples add to flour mix tose to coat apples well set aside
  • 3. next unroll one pie crust place it evenly in pie plate nuke carmel sauce so it pours easily put about 1/2 on bottle pir crust... next layers pecans
  • 4. next add apples... next take rest of carmell topping and drizzle over top of pie
  • 5. next put top crust on.. pinch all the way round pie to seal take sharp knifw and poke several holes in top crust
  • 6. bake in 350 oven for 45-65 min check at 45 and shield with foil if getting to brown
  • 7. refridgerate overnight... to sevve slice and add cool whip or ice cream to this..... yummo!!!!

1/2 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
6 cups apples, thinly sliced peeled (You may need more if your family sits by the bowl and sneaks the sliced applies when you are not looking. Marsha likes to use golden delicious and Fuji apples.)
1 recipe crumb topping (see below)
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1/4 cup caramel topping
Crumb Topping
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup butter

Steps:

  • Crumb Topping Stir together brown sugar,flour, rolled oats. Cut in 1/2 cup butter until topping is like course crumbs. Set aside. Pie In a large mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until coated. Transfer apple mixture to the pie shell (I remove the store-bought pie shell from the aluminum pie plate and transfer it to a 9-inch pie plate of my own, but you do not have to.) Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture. Place pie on a cookie sheet so the drippings don't drop into your oven. Cover edges of pie with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 25 minutes. Then remove foil and put back in for another 25 to 30 minutes without foil. Remove from oven. Sprinkle pie with chopped pecans then drizzle with caramel on top. I had apples that needed to be used, but I was tired of making plain apple pie. Apple bread? Not now. Apple cake? No, I didn't feel like cake... what if I combined a few recipes and made up something new???

Number Of Ingredients 12

8-10 apples (i use whatever needs to eaten soon!)
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
CRUMB TOPPING
1 stick butter
1 c flour
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
CARMEL SAUCE
1 bottle carmel sundae topping

Steps:

  • 1. Assemble your bottom pie crust. Which usually means defrost the pie shell that I bought from the store. I can't make pie crusts! I have tried everything! Do not feel bad ;)
  • 2. Slice apples to the desired thickness (I like them very thin, my in-laws like them thicker - so you choose!). Combine first five ingredients making sure all the apples are coated with the dry ingredients.
  • 3. Pour apple mixture into pie crust.
  • 4. Mix Crumb ingredients together with your fingers until the mixture resembles a bowl of peas. Sprinkle over the top of the pie.
  • 5. Bake at 425F for 45-50mins. If you are worried about burning the crumbs, just cover with aluminum foil for the last 15-20 minutes. Let cool on pie rack.
  • 6. When pie is completely cool, open jar of carmel sauce. Pour over pie. Voila!
