2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 package (10 to 11 ounces) butterscotch chips
4 cups crispy chow mein noodles

Steps:

  • In a microwave or large metal bowl over simmering water, melt chocolate chips and butterscotch chips; stir until smooth. Gently stir in noodles., Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate 10-15 minutes or until set.

1 (11 ounce) package butterscotch chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 (10 ounce) bag chow mein noodles
1 cup roasted peanuts ((optional))

Steps:

  • Prepare a baking sheet by lining with wax paper. Set aside.
  • In the microwave or medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butterscotch chips until smooth (see note below).
  • Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter until well combined. Add the chow mein noodles and roasted peanuts. Stir gently until combined.
  • Drop rounded tablespoon scoops of the mixture on the prepared baking sheet. Allow to set for several hours or overnight.
  • You can also speed up this process by placing them in the refrigerator. Then enjoy!

The recipe for this wonderfully buttery candy was handed down from my grandma. My brothers, sisters and I love it now as much as we did when we were little...and so do our families. It's become a cherished tradition.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups sugar
2/3 cup water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Butter a 13x9-in. pan; set aside. In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, water and cream of tartar. Bring to a boil, without stirring, over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 300° (hard-crack stage). Syrup will turn a golden color. , Remove from the heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Return to heat. Cook and stir until thermometer returns to 300°. Pour into prepared pan. Cool. Break into pieces.

½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup butter
½ cup white sugar
½ cup water
2 teaspoons vinegar
1 pinch salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Generously butter a 10x15 inch baking pan (with sides).
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, white sugar, water, vinegar and salt. Cover and bring to a boil. Remove lid and heat, without stirring, to 270 to 290 degrees F (132 to 143 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard but pliable threads. Pour in vanilla, but do not stir. Remove from heat and pour into prepared pan. Let cool slightly before cutting into squares and allowing candy to cool completely.

1 teaspoon plus 1/2 cup butter, softened, divided
2 cups sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons white vinegar

Steps:

  • Line a 15x10x1-in. pan with foil. Grease the foil with 1 teaspoon butter; set aside. , In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, vinegar and remaining butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook for 3 minutes to dissolve any sugar crystals. , Uncover; cook, without stirring, until a candy thermometer reads 300° (hard-crack stage). Remove from the heat. Pour into prepared pan without scraping the saucepan; do not spread mixture. , Cool for 1-2 minutes or until candy is almost set. Using a sharp knife, score into 1/2-in. squares; cool completely.
