This easy powdered sugar frosting is made with and quick making it ideal for topping cupcakes, cakes, soft sugar cookies or brownies.

2 cups powdered sugar
2 oz. cream cheese
2 tbsp cream
1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
1/2 tsp salt

Steps:

  • Sift your powdered sugar if you want a smoother frosting.
  • Add your sugar, heavy cream, extract and salt to a bowl and mix well until smooth. A standing mixer or hand mixer works best.
  • Use as desired or store in the fridge. The consistency should be thick! Read notes below*

2 cups All-Purpose Flour ((2 cups = 250 g))
4 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1 Egg
2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
1 cup Sugar ((1 cup = 200 g))
3/4 cup Milk
3/4 cup Sour Cream
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil ((see note))

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray an 8x8 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In one medium mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a larger mixing bowl whisk together the egg, vanilla, and sugar until smooth. Add milk, sour cream, and vegetable oil and mix again until smooth.
  • Pour the dry ingredients over the wet ingredients stir until just combined (no dry spots should remain; but the batter will be lumpy).
  • Pour cake batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake until the center is firm and the cake is golden on top, 33 to 36 minutes.
  • Let cake cool in the pan before slicing and serving.

1 egg, separated
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon lemon extract
2 tablespoons evaporated milk
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 teaspoon lemon extract

Steps:

  • Put egg yolk in a mixing bowl and beat until light; gradually add the sugar and milk while beating continuously.
  • Sift your flour, baking powder, and salt together; set aside.
  • Beat egg white until stiff; fold dry ingredients into egg white.
  • Add egg white mixture and flavoring to sugar-milk mixture, blending well.
  • Pour batter in a prepared 8-inch square pan.
  • Bake at 375 degrees ("a moderately hot oven") for 30 minutes.
  • Icing: Warm the 2 tablespoons evaporated milk in a small saucepan, and add the 3/4 teaspoon lemon extract and 1 cup powdered sugar.
  • Top on cake.
  • If you'd like, you can color the icing with food coloring.

1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup water
1 cup raisins
1/3 cup shortening
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a heavy saucepan, combine first seven ingredients. Bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool to room temperature. , In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add the raisin mixture. Pour into a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan., Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. Serve with Hard Sauce (also found in Recipe Finder) if desired.

  • In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients together.

  • Pour the liquid ingredients all at once into the dry ingredients, and beat until smooth.
