This Bourbon Banana Bread is an easy, classic recipe kicked up a few notches to include a boozy twist! Full flavored, moist, sweet, and quick to prepare!

1 1/3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
5 1/3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
3 bananas, mashed
1 tbsp bourbon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  • Add in the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Mix until combined.
  • Add in the eggs, bananas, and bourbon.
  • Pour batter into greased/prepared loaf pan (or 3 mini loaf pans).
  • Place in preheated oven (350 degrees) and bake for about 35 minutes if mini loaves, 55-60 minutes if a large loaf pan, 25 minutes if making muffins.
  • Once baked, remove and allow to cool slightly before removing from pan and serving! Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 12

3/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup bourbon or dark rum ((orange or apple juice can be substituted))
1 -1/4 cup all porpoise flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 stick butter melted
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
4 to 6 small very ripe bananas, mashed (the blacker the better)
4 tbsp chopped pecans
1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Line a 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 325°F.
  • Put the raisins and bourbon or rum in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Then remove from the heat, cover and let it soak until the raisins have absorbed most of the liquid, at 1/2 least hour or so. (You can do this step overnight.)
  • Put the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium bowl and combine well with a wooden spoon.
  • In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar and beat until blended.
  • Beat the eggs into the butter and sugar mixture, 1 at a time, and then beat in the mashed bananas.
  • Using a wooden spoon, stir in the chopped pecans, soaked raisins and vanilla extract.
  • Now add in the flour mixture, about 1/3 at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  • Scrape the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the middle of the oven for 1 to 1 and 1/4 hours. When it's ready, a toothpick or fine skewer inserted in the center should come out fairly clean.
  • Let the banana bread cool in the pan on a wire rack.

Not for kids It's true that most of the alcohol does bake off. Depends on how long the loaf is cooked. For this approximately 25% of the alcohol is retained. However, the taste may not be acquired yet by the little kiddies. I tend to have a heavy hand in the liquor department and the flavor is very apparant.

1/4 cup Bourbon (little more is also good)
1 cup raisins
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
3 bananas, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans (little more is better)

Steps:

  • Soak Raisins in Bourbon until plump.
  • Sift flour, soda and salt together.
  • Preheat oven to 325, Cream together sugar, butter, eggs, bananas, vanilla and pecans then stir in raisins and bourbon and then add flour mixture.
  • Pour into loaf pan and bake for 1 hour on until tester inserted comes out clean.
  • Makes 1 loaf or 4 mini loafs.

1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons water (70° to 80°)
3 tablespoons honey
4-1/2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
1 medium ripe banana, mashed
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups bread flour
1-1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • In bread machine pan, place the first nine ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). Just before the final kneading (your machine may audibly signal this), add raisins and walnuts.

4 cups milk
½ cup butter
1 cup white sugar
4 large eggs, beaten slightly
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
12 cups dry bread cubes
½ cup raisins
¼ cup finely chopped hazelnuts
2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
½ cup bourbon whiskey

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Heat milk and 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over medium heat until butter is completely melted, 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Mix sugar, eggs, cinnamon, and salt together in a large mixing bowl with a whisk until well blended. Stir in milk mixture. Stir in bread cubes, raisins, and hazelnuts. Let sit for 5 minutes. Pour into an ungreased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Bake, uncovered, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes.
  • While pudding is baking, heat brown sugar, 1 cup butter, and bourbon whiskey in a pot over medium heat, stirring constantly, until boiling and sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Set aside.

1 cup raisins (or dried currants)
4 tablespoons Irish whiskey (1 shot glass full plus 1 tablespoon)
1 teaspoon honey
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 pint sour cream
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • In a small saucepan or in the microwave, bring the whiskey and honey to a boil and add the raisins or currants. Cover and off the heat. Set aside and let steep.
  • Butter a round 1 1/2 to 2 quart baking dish, set aside.
  • Add the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl; use a wire whisk to combine.
  • In a small bowl, beat the eggs and stir in the sour cream, mixing well to combine.
  • Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stir well with a wooden spoon (batter will be thick).
  • Stir in the whiskey-soaked raisins or currants (along with the whiskey-honey they were steeped in); blend well.
  • Turn batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Dust the top with flour and pat the batter evenly in the pan with your hands.
  • Use a sharp knife to make a cross on the top.
  • Bake for 50 minutes in preheated 350 F oven.
  • Remove to a rack and let cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a serving dish. Cut into wedges and serve warm with real butter.

3/4 c raisins
1/2 c bourbon (or brandy or even dark rum)
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 c sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs - large
1 tsp vanilla extract
8 Tbsp butter melted
1 c mashed (very ripe) bananas
1/2 c chopped walnuts (if desired)

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium size saucepan combine the raisins and the alcohol and bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and let stand one hour or overnight in the refrigerator. Before using in batter, discard any liquid that remains.
  • 2. Position an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 325°. Grease or spray with Pam a 9x5 loaf pan.
  • 3. In large bowl combine all ingredients except for raisins and walnuts with electric mixer until well blended. With a spoon, stir in the raisins and walnuts.
  • 4. Turn in to prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center emerges clean. Cool in the pan on a rack. Slice thin and serve at room temperature. It ALWAYS tastes better the next day.
  • 5. *I frequently have bananas that go brown and I peel them and put them in freezer bags and freeze them. I then take them out a couple of hours ahead of time and use them in this recipe.
