Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup cocoa
1/4 cup cornstarch/or arrowroot powder (or 1/2 cup all purpose flour)
3 egg yolks
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
9 " pre-baked pie shell

Steps:

  • Mix cocoa, cornstarch, beaten egg yolks; sugar and salt, then add milk gradually, while stirring in a pot over med-high heat. Cook until thick, beating it smooth. While stirring, mix in the vanilla. Cream pies take some time to thicken, so stir... and stir (10 to 15 minutes). Using a heavy bottom pan really helps. Just keep it up until it thickens. Pour into a pre-baked pie shell. Put in the fridge to chill for several hours before serving. Add whipped cream, cool whip, or a baked meringue for the topping if you like :)

HERSHEY'S SNOW GHOST CHOCOLATE PIE

Hershey's Snow Ghost Chocolate Pie image

This is an awesome dark chocolate pie, from what I understand originated out of a magazine that my Mother or Grandmother found- they always used this recipe when I was growing up. The filling makes a great pudding on days when your not in the mood for making Crisco original recipe crust. I hope you like it, too !!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 c chocolate powder
1 1/4 c white sugar
1/3 c cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
3 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 c milk

Steps:

  • 1. Place chocolate powder, white sugar, cornstarch and salt in a large cooking pot. {I use one that I make soup in.} Stir in a little milk and then stir the dry mixture, stir and add milk until the chocolate sugar mixture is wet add the remainder of milk stir.
  • 2. I find that mixing it like this helps keep down the dry lumpy, floaty things that can be a challenge otherwise to get mixed in < If they still sneak in I pour this into the blender and run it for a minute, then pour back into your cooking pot an continue.
  • 3. *** Stir constantly *** cooking over a medium heat until thick and bubbly. Boil 1 minute. Remove from heat, Add butter and vanilla. Stir. Pour into pre-baked pie crust. Cool and Serve with Whipped Cream .
  • 4. Sometimes Mother would make the filling an pour it up in small bowls and serve it as pudding. I hope you all like this I think it's the only Chocolate Pie recipe that I've ever made an I figure it will be the only one as most other's I see are not Chocolate enough for my taste !! Enjoy~
