⅔ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
6 tablespoons cold butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 apple - peeled, cored, and chopped
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
⅓ cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  • Mix brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon for topping in a bowl. Cut in cold butter. Stir in walnuts and apple.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, and salt for cake in a bowl. Beat white sugar and butter together in a large bowl with an electric mixer until creamy. Add dry ingredients. Mix in milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Spread into the prepared pan and sprinkle streusel topping over top. Swirl a knife through both mixtures.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes.

1 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda

1-3/4 to 2 cups chopped peeled tart apples
TOPPING:
3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. 1 cup apple pie filling (mashed)
1/2 cup raisins
Glaze
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease & flour 9 x 13 cake pan or baking dish. Combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Add eggs, vanilla, butter and milk. Mix well. Add apples and raisins mix again to stiff batter. Pour into pan.
  • Bake for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Remove from oven to cool and while still warm drizzle with glaze. Serve warm.
