AHI TUNA MARINADE

Ahi Tuna Marinade image

Our family was first introduced to the concept of "rare" Ahi Tuna when my sister-inlaw opened an inland NJ seafood restaurant. Frequently, she tested new recipes on us as well as her family & friends. The first time I tasted it, I was surprised to find out how good the rare tuna was! I then decided to create my own marinade that was more to our liking. The trick is to just sear the fish on a hot frying pan for 1-2 minutes per side and then serve immediately.

Asian inspired marinade. I have served it with Asian Cabbage Slaw (#64032) both as a main dish and an appetizer. Make a partial recipe of the slaw recipe and use as garnish with sliced tuna drizzled with soy sauce.

SEARED AHI TUNA WITH BLACKBERRY-PASSION FRUIT MARINADE

Seared Ahi Tuna with Blackberry-Passion Fruit Marinade image

This is a great summer dish. The marinade is great for grilling tuna, too. I usually serve this with a spinach salad with my passion fruit-dijon vinaigrette or my fennel salad. You can serve it with steamed white rice or over lettuce, thinly sliced cabbage, or fennel. Pair it with a passion fruit lemonade, a fruity cocktail, or a glass of light and fruity wine.

AHI TUNA MARINADE

Categories     Fish

Number Of Ingredients 5

Sushi Grade Ahi Tuna
2 Tbls. Teriyaki Sauce- like kikkoman
1 Tbls. Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp. Rice Vinegar
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Steps:

  • mix all of the ingredients- then put them in ziploc bag- with the tuna-cut a few spots in the tuna so the marinade soaks in. on the grill cook for 4 mins on each side if you like it rare. it will totally depend on how thick the tuna is. Before I serve it I melt a bit of unsalted butter for each person- it is a very nice compliment to the tuna- it may sound odd- but this is the way it is served at one of my favorite restaurants- it is heaven.
