Black Magic Cake (the sister) image

Decided to try this recipe from Lisa Glass and the smell of it alone will pull you right in to the world of Chocolate Magic, lol (I only made a few minor adjustments to fit my tastes)

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 22

CAKE BATTER
1 3/4 c all purpose flour
2 c sugar
3/4 c cocoa powder- hershey's
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 c strong black coffee, cooled
1 tsp real vanilla extract
1/2 c vegetable oil
1 c buttermilk
FROSTING
3 c powdered sugar
2 oz melted unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c butter, softened
5 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp real vanilla extract
DECORATIONS
hershey's chocolate syrup
semi sweet chocolate chips
white chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Combine batter mixture. Mix for a few minutes. Batter will be thinner than box cake mixes.
  • 2. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9x13 pan or two 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees ( I learned through til, cooking times vary from 30-45 minutes) depending on your pans. Place in fridge to cool.
  • 3. Combine frosting ingredients in a bowl and mix. Spread over cool cakes. I add chocolate chips in between the layers for a little texture. Decorate and enjoy!
