Banana Nut Bread image

This recipe comes from a 1969 Betty Crocker cookbook. I make this banana bread often and everyone loves it, but especially my grandson (now 21, but since he was little) called it Grammy Nut Nut Bread. To this day, it is all he wants every Christmas as his present. He is visiting tomorrow, a nice surprise for him. Sharing this one...

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 c flour
1 c sugar
3 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 c milk
1 egg
1 c finely chopped walnuts
1 c mashed ripe bananas

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour 9x5x3 inch loaf pan.
  • 2. Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl; beat by hand for 1/2 minute. scraping side and bottom of bowl constantly.
  • 3. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 55 to 65 minutes or until wooden pick inserted comes our clean.
  • 4. Remove from pan; cool thoroughly before slicing.
