Baked Cream Cheese Appetizer image

This is a wonderful, easy and inexpensive appetizer. I serve it at Easter time and occasionally on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. Everyone always raves about it! The original recipe comes from the Great American Brand Name Cookbook 1993 edition. My Mother-in-law gave me the book as a shower gift that same year when I was...

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 pkg (4 oz.) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 pkg (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/2 tsp dill, dried
1 egg yolk, beaten
2 apples, cored, halved and thinly sliced

Steps:

  • 1. Unroll dough onto lightly floured surface; Press together seams to form a rectangle.
  • 2. Sprinkle top of cream cheese with half of dill; lightly press dill into cream cheese. Place cream cheese dill side down, in center of dough. Sprinkle with remaining dill.
  • 3. Place cream cheese, dill side down, in center of dough. Enclose cream cheese in dough by bringing sides of dough together; pressing edges to seal.
  • 4. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet, brush with egg yolk. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • 5. Slice off a piece of appetizer and eat on a slice of apple.
