Sour Cream cut out cookies image

This recipe is almost 100 years old. My Mother's Great Granny's recipe. The cookies are soft and very tasty. I always make up a few batches for the holidays, and when I present them, I always get, "I love these cookies!"

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 c butter, softened
2 c sugar
1 c sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp salt
5 c all purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2. Cream together butter and sugar. Add sour cream, baking soda, eggs, vanilla and salt. Gradually add flour until it can be rolled and cut. Add a little more flour of needed.
  • 3. Roll out on a lightly floured board and cut with cookie cutters of your choice. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 mins or until edges are slightly browned. A butter cream frosting tastes great on these. You can also decorated with a royal icing too..Heck just about any kind of frosting tastes good on these cookies. Enjoy
