SHRIMP AND GRITS image

This recipe was copied from a FoodNetwork post in 2009. It said the recipe was courtesy Martha Nesbit. It was passed to me by a friend we cook it for special get togethers or holiday treat and we say it is family tested and good.

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 c water
salt and pepper
1 c stone ground grits
3 Tbsp butter, cold
2 c sharp cheddar cheese
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
6 slice bacon chopped
4 tsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp chopped parsley
1 c thin sliced scaillions
1 large clove of garlic minced

Steps:

  • 1. Bring water to boil and cook grits until done add 3 tbls butter and 2 cups cheese stir until mixed
  • 2. In a large skillet fry the bacon remove from the pan to drain. Put the shrimp into the grease and fry until pink. Remove from skillet and add the scaillions, garlic, lemon juice and parsley to grease and cook til tender.
  • 3. Add all the ingredients to the grits stir in well and serve.
