PULLED PORK AND BBQ SAUCE WITH PICKLED ONION image

Number Of Ingredients 20

Pulled Pork
One pork shoulder, 6 lbs. fat removed.
Root Beer to cover halfway up roast
BBQ Sauce
6 T. Maple Syrup
2- 14 oz. bottle ketchup
1 1/2 cup water
3 T. Liquid Smoke
Salt and pepper to taste
8 T. worcerstershire sauce
5 tsp dry mustard
3 tsp celery seeds
6 T. butter
1/4 t. cayenne pepper
Improvise a bit
Pickled Onion
1 medium red onion, cut into 3/4 inch wide wedges and then slice VERY thinly
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
1/2 t. dried oregano
1/2 t. salt, ot to taste.

Steps:

  • Pork Remove fat, place in crock pot, pour rootbeer halfway up roast. Roast slowly 12 hours. Let cool, remove pork from liquid. Pull pork apart, once you have pulled the pork apart, start adding the sauce to the consistency you want Sauce Combine all ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Cook for 10 minutes. Pickled onion to top sandwich. Combine all ingredients and let pickle for 1-2 days.
