Oven Fried C image

I don't know where I got this recipe, but I've been making it for years. (I've used what milk I have on hand, skim, 2%, or Buttermilk) Everyone is so surprised that it is so tender & juicy when I make it. Such simple ingredients; such yummy chicken.

2 1/2-3 lbs chicken, Cut Up, Washed
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
3/4-1 cup milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 Degrees F.
  • Melt shortening & butter in a 9x13 baking pan, in oven.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • Dip chicken in milk and coat completely with dry mixture.
  • Place skin side down in melted butter.
  • Cook uncovered for 30 minutes.
  • Turn chicken over, and cook an additional 30 minutes.
