Orange French Toast image

This is a better alternative to those boxes of frozen french toast that you buy in the store... you make these yourself! ** Great freezer recipe! Double or triple this recipe to have extra breakfasts on hand and ready to heat & serve.

Number Of Ingredients 6

12 slice french bread (or any kind of bread you like)
6-8 eggs, beaten well
1/2 c orange juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 c milk or half-n-half

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl, combine all ingredients except bread. Blend well.
  • 2. Dip both sides of each bread slice in egg mixture. Let set a minute to soak up some egg. Be sure to whisk the egg mixture periodically to keep the cinnamon mixed in.
  • 3. Place bread slices on hot non-stick griddle. Cook until both sides are a light golden brown.
  • 4. Remove from griddle. Dust with a little powdered sugar. Serve with warmed maple syrup.
  • 5. TO FREEZE: When cooled, wrap each slice in wax paper, and then stack a meal's worth in a large freezer bag. (Make sure you remove as much air as possible from the freezer bag before freezing)
  • 6. Store in your freezer for up to 3 months.
  • 7. To Thaw & Serve: Remove from freezer, unwrap & place on a plate.
  • 8. Heat for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes in the microwave, or until heated through.
  • 9. Top with maple syrup & enjoy!
