Steps:
- Cream together brown sugar and shortening. Add egg. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Add vanilla and rhubarb--mix well.
- Pour mixture into greased 9 inch pan. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle on batter.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until center is done.
