Mexican Hot Chocolate image

You'll definitely want to curl up next to the fireplace with a mug of this tasty hot chocolate. We had a hard time locating Mexican chocolate at our store, so used cinnamon and almond extract as Giselle suggests. This is soooo good... and easy!

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 oz abuelita chocolate or baking semisweet chocolate
1 tsp cinnamon, ground- *if not using mexican chocolate
1/2 tsp almond extract - *if not using mexican chocolate
1/2 c water
2 c whole milk

Steps:

  • 1. In a saucepan bring the water up to heat, grate the chocolate (it melts faster) once it melts just add the milk, and froth with a Molinillo, you can use a whisk if you don't have one. Pour into cups and enjoy!!
  • 2. *if your using regular baking chocolate add the cinnamon and Almond extract along with the grated chocolate, and you may have add sugar or agave to taste.*
