Steps:
- Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Continue to cook the butter until it is browned a dark golden color and smells nutty, about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often.
- Stir in cornstarch to form a paste. Stir in the water.
- Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon, and bring to a low boil.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Add the apples to the sugar mixture in the saucepan, and cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
- Place the bottom crust in your pan. Par-bake for 4 minutes. Pour apple filling into crust. Cover with second pie crust. Crimp edges, and cut slits in top for vent. (I sprinkle a little sugar on top)
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until apples are soft.
