Jerrys Gob Cake image

This is a recipe that was handed down from generation to generation. My Father used to make this when I was a child. It's very moist and very rich and extremely good! If you like to bake and have a sweet tooth for cake, this is the recipe for you! Enjoy!

2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup Crisco cooking oil
1 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
1 1/2 cups cold water
2 (3 ounce) packages vanilla pudding mix (cook and serve kind )
2 cups milk
1 cup butter
1 cup Crisco shortening
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Cake:.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix ingredients, blend well. Pour into ungreased 9x13 cake pan. Bake 35-40 minutes or until done. Cool well before icing.
  • Icing:.
  • Take the 2 packages of pudding and 2 cups milk. Cook over medium heat till thick. Cool pudding by placing the pan in cold water. Cool thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients to cool pudding. Beat till well blended, spread on cool cake.
