Italian Sloppy Joes image

My husband loves these. So good.

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion chopped
4 clove garlic minced
1 large portobello mushroom cap small dice
1/2 c red wine
1 Tbsp better than beef bouillon
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 c fresh basil leaves chopped
1/2 c shredded parmesan cheese
fresh mozzarella cheese cut into 8 pieces
4 buns of choice

Steps:

  • 1. Add oil to a large skillet. Add the beef, onions, and garlic and cook breaking up meat unitl meat is no longer pink. Add the mushrooms and cook 5 more minutes. Add the red wine and cook until reduced by half.
  • 2. Add the beef bouillion and the tomatoes and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and let simmer until thickened. Stir in the basil.
  • 3. Place a spoon full on each bun topping with Parmesan and Mozzarrella and serve.
