Grilled Lamburger image

This was featured on the Food Network on the "Best Thing I ever Ate -- Grilled." It looked so succulent and wonderful I was ready to pack up and go to New York to try it! The patties are thick and juicy, the toppings minimal.

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/4 lbs ground lamb, ground from shoulder meat which is most flavorful
feta cheese, sliced
1 red onion, sliced and separated into rings
4 buns

Steps:

  • Choose lamb shoulder meat and have the butcher grind it up. This is the most flavorful meat of the lamb. Form into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill.
  • Choose a bun that will not detract from the flavor of the lamburger. Cut buns in half and grill both halves. Grill the patties 4-5 minutes per side for rare. When you turn the patties, top the cooked side with several pieces of the feta cheese.
  • Top the bun bottom with the lamburger. Top the burger with a few onion rings spread over the feta. Add top of bun. Serve hot.
