Steps:
- Beat the butter until fluffy then gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add half flour mixture to butter mixture beating well to combine, then add milk, beat to combine, finally add remaining flour mixture and beat until well blended.
- Divide dough in half, form a disk, cover with plastic wrap, chill for 1 hour. Roll out half of dough, on a floured board, to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 1/2 inch cookie cutter and place on a greased cookie sheet. Repeat with other half of dough.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about 8 minutes. Cookies should not be brown. Move to wire racks to cool.
