My grandma use to make this and serve it over plain butter cake while it was all still warm. It is awesome, and so easy to make. I haven't found anyone who doesn't just love it!

Steps:
- 1. Combine sugar, cornstarch,and salt; set aside
- 2. Heat water to boiling, gradually add sugar mixture, cook on mediumn stirring until thickens
- 3. Remove from heat stir in butter or margarine and vanilla extract
- 4. Serve while warm over plain butter cake ( cake mix of your choice )
