- In a large saucepan, combine cocoa and water until smooth. Add the butter; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat; cool., In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, baking soda and salt. Add cocoa mixture and mix well. Beat in the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Pour into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. , Bake at 350° for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean., For frosting, in a large saucepan, combine cocoa and milk until smooth; add the butter. Cook over low heat until butter is melted. Remove from the heat; stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla. Spread over warm cake. Cool. Use vanilla icing to decorate like a diploma.
